Itinerary

Day 1 Cusco – Patacancha – Aguas Calientes

Very early, we leave for the village of Patacancha where we will meet with the Homestay family to guide us to the pastures where lamas, alpacas and sheep are grazing. There, we will participate in a lama ceremony and learn how the Andean people thank nature. After the ceremony we will return to the village of Patacancha where we will also share the typical Andean Pachamanca dish. The Homestay family will explain to us what are the principal ingreients and the whole cooking process. It will not just be a demonstration, but we will all be assistants in the process. While waiting for 40 minutes for the meal to get ready, the Homestay family will give us a small demonstration of their textile arts, which is parto f their daily life as they are themselves producing their own typical, colorful costumes in the whole region. Then, we can taste our Pachamanca meal and say goodbye to the family to continue by private transport to the beautiful archeological site of Pumamarka. After that, we will descend by car to the village of Ollantaytambo, visiting the archeological site with beautiful terraces, water sources, Palaces and its Holy Huaca that today is known as the Sun Temple. In the time of the Inca this was a very important village. Tonight we will board the tourist train to the village of Aguas Calientes where we will spend the night in a hotel.

Day 2 Aguas Calientes- Machu Picchu- Ollantaytambo- Cusco

In the early morning, we have to leave from our hotel to take the bus to the , the Magical City of the Incas, which is considered a jewel of Inca architecture with agricultural terraces, neighbourhoods, squares, streets, an astronomic observatory etc. Constructed upon the slopes of the mountain, in the middle of nature, it is considered one of the miracles of today’s world. The altitude is about 2450 m. After exploring this Magical City, you may like to explore the mountain of Huayna picchu. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

About the Spiritual Experience

  1. Do I need prior meditation or spiritual experience to join this tour?
    • No, absolutely not. Our tour is designed for all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners. Our Andean Shaman and guides will provide all necessary instruction and support for the meditation and ceremonies.
  2. What is the role of the Andean Shaman?
    • The Shaman is an authentic spiritual guide and ceremonial leader from the Andes. They facilitate the profound ceremonies (like the Lamas Ceremony and the Apus/Pachamama Offering) and help connect the group to the spiritual energy of the sacred Inca sites.
  3. What is the Patacancha community experience, and is it respectful to the local people?
    • The Patacancha visit is an exclusive and respectful cultural exchange to meet the "Last Incas." It’s an opportunity to observe and participate in their living traditions, habits, and faith, ensuring the cultural interaction is authentic and mutually beneficial, not purely touristic.
  4. What are the "Apus" and "Pachamama"?
    • Apus are the revered Mountain Spirits (Holy Mountains) considered guardians of the land in Inca cosmology. Pachamama is Mother Earth. The ceremonies are centered on offering thanks and seeking harmony with these life-giving forces.
  5. Is the Lamas Ceremony a tourist show?
    • No. The Lamas Ceremony is a special, deeply respectful ritual that honors the sacred animals of the Andes. It is intended to be a unique, authentic spiritual event, and not a standard, mass-market performance.

About the Logistics and Food

  1. What is included in the ceremonial Pachamanca feast?
    • Pachamanca is a traditional Andean meal cooked in the earth using hot stones. It typically includes trout, alpaca, chicken, and a variety of native vegetables like potatoes and corn, offering a delicious and authentic gastronomic experience. Please inform us of any dietary restrictions when booking.
  2. How physically demanding is the tour?
    • The tour is considered moderately physical. While the meditation sessions are restful, the journey involves high altitudes, walking, and climbing stairs at Machu Picchu. We recommend being in good general health and arriving in Cusco a couple of days early for acclimatization.
  3. What is the best way to prepare for the altitude?
    • We highly recommend arriving in Cusco (or the Sacred Valley) 1–2 days before your tour begins to acclimatize gradually. Drink plenty of water (coca tea is often helpful), avoid heavy meals, and take it easy on your first day.
  4. What should I pack for the spiritual ceremonies and the Machu Picchu visit?
    • For Ceremonies: Comfortable, layered clothing that allows for movement (loose pants, sweaters).
    • For Machu Picchu: Sturdy walking shoes, layers of clothing (it can be cold in the morning and warm by midday), rain gear (a light waterproof jacket), sun protection (hat, sunscreen), and mosquito repellent.
