Ausangate Trek, you will see snowcapped peaks, herds of llamas, glaciers and
turquoise lakes, all set within an incredibly beautiful mountain range. You
will also get the chance to see the Rainbow Mountain of Vinicunca!

Trip Overview
Day 1 Cusco-Tinki-Pajchanta (4,200
m /13779.53 ft)
Our Homestay Team coming to pick up from your hotel at
6:30 am in the morning after you have a nice breakfast. We will drive 3 hours
aprox to the community of Tinki and on the way; we will stop in Oropesa
village. This is where you will see many bakeries and get to experience the
local specialty - a famous bread called Chuta - which is the most delicious and
popular bread in Cusco region.
Afterwards, we will continue our journey and arrive at
the village Tinki, affter to continue on a road about 20 minutes we will arrive
to the community of Puca Rumy where we will begin our hike. Here we will meet
with our horseman who are native from this community. We will start hiking
through the local community for about three and a half hours and on the way, we
will see locals doing their daily activities like farming or looking after the
llamas and alpacas. We will also start to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the
Andes. At the end, we will arrive to our lunch place, which will be also our
campsite.
Our chef will be waiting with a special, delicious
lunch for you and upon completion, we will organize; our belongings in our
tents and you can have a nice nap. After your nap, we will enjoy the natural
hot spring where you can bathe and enjoy the beautiful views on an
unforgettable starry night.
Day 2 Pajchanta-Jhampa pass (5010m/
16437ft) Huchuy Fhinaya (4510m/14793ft)
After a delicious breakfast, we will begin our hike,
starting to ascend through the beautiful trail used by the locals since ancient
times. On the way, we will pass through beautiful lakes, which the locals
consider “sacred lakes” and perform ceremonies in order to thanks Pachamama for
the life they have. It will be a great opportunities to take pictures and enjoy
the environment. After three hours of hiking, we will stop for lunch and then
we will continue ascending to the high mountain of our hike called “Ccampa”
Pass located at 5000m/ 16404.2 ft. After this pass we will start descending to
our campsite for about three hours called “Surapata,” located in the Narrow
Valley surrounded by giant mountains (4300 m or 14319 ft), and finally we will
finish our day.
Day 3 Huchuy Fhinaya Palomani
Pass (5210m/17010ft) Ausangate Qocha (4650m / 15100ft)
Today, we will reach the highest point of our whole
journey. We start walking through this narrow valley and finally we will start
our ascension. On the way, we will have a chance to enjoy the wildlife, such as
viscachas, Andean geese and if we are lucky we will have chance to see the
sacred bird of the Inkas called Condor. We will see more colorful lakes and
lagoons and we will be really close to the famous Ausangate Mountain. After
three hours ascending we will arrive to Palomani Pass, (5210m/17010ft) where
there will be great spot to enjoy the snowcapped mountains, especially Ausangate,
because we will have a 360-degree view. Then, we continue our hike and start to
descend for 2 hours to our campsite called Ausangate Cocha where we will end
our day.
Day 4 Ausangate
Qocha-Ananta (4600m/1500ft)
Today we will only have a moderate hike - It is a good
day to relax. The highlight of the day will be arriving to Pucacocha Pass (5051
mt) which has very stunning views of the colorful mountains and overlooks 5
lagoons with a variety of colors. After that, we will continue on the beautiful
trail in the company of Andean animals like llamas and alpacas. Finally,
approach our campsite where we will enjoy our delicious lunch and rest for the
next day.
Day 5 Ananta-Warmisaya pass (4985m/16355ft) Rainbow Mountain
(5030m/16502ft) Cusco
We will have very early breakfast at 5 am because we
want to be the first to arrive at Rainbow Mountain. After breakfast we will
start our hike with the first uphill climb Warmisaya Pass (4985m/16355). A
wonderful day on which we may enjoy natural sites, geological formations of the
Vilcanota chain (Andes) and a chain of naturally colored mountains. The
Cordillera of the Andes are formed by frictions of tectonic plates that have
caused a natural erosion since millions of years. When we arrive at the highest
point, we will be able to see the natural formation of colors and the entire
red valley of mountains. These breathtaking views will be payback for the hard
work you accomplished during this trek. Here you will have the time to contemplate
the views of the mountain and take amazing pictures with the sunrise over the
mountain. After this time, we will start our one-hour descent to our lunch
place where we will then enjoy our last lunch with Homestay team. Then we will
drive back to Cusco and finally arrive at your final destination - your hotel.
